Amidst Rise In Digital Education, Toppr Announces One-On-One Coding Classes For Kids
In an age where everything is going digital, it’s more important to learn coding languages than ever before. Delivering on this, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Toppr has announced Toppr Codr which aims at teaching children between the ages of 6 and 18 to learn to code.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, schools have been forced to shut and the summer vacations which are usually earmarked for learning camps have been quite monotonous. This has seen EdTech platforms such as Toppr and Byju’s see a spike in users, both free and paid.
Now, in order to expand the scope of its target market, Toppr is introducing Toppr Codr that will teach kids how to code. According to Toppr, the curriculum of Codr has been created by graduates from MIT and IITs and includes on-demand and self-paced modules, adaptive paths, and one-on-one live personalised classes.
The course has been designed for both students at both beginner and advanced levels. In terms of languages, Toppr says Codr will include coding platform such as App Lab, Thunkable, Java, Arduino, and React Native, and Python.
Toppr is currently providing the first class for free, post which, depending on the level, parents can decide which package they want to go for with pricing going all the way up to INR 95,000.
The announcement of Toppr Codr comes at a time when digital education tools have been growing in popularity. According to a report by BARC India and Nielsen, there has been a 30% increase in the time spent on education apps on smartphones since lockdown. Toppr alone has seen a 150% growth in paid users with its revenue growing 2.5 times.
In related news, Toppr is also pumping in $6 million to expand its operations in India across several verticals.
