‘Biohackers’ Trailer: German Thriller Delves Into How Genetic Enhancement Can Change Humanity
I know that everyone is talking about German entertainment now after the success of Dark. But I have to be honest here, I wasn’t exposed to it for the longest time. Hence it is quite surprising for me that German movies and TV shows are so rich and so complex. Special emphasis on complex because after screwing with our minds with the concept of time, the Germans are back to do with the same with the concept of genetic enhancements and THC chips in Biohackers.
Biohackers is directed by the mind behind Girlboss, Christian Ditter. And it will follow the story of Mia (Luna Wedler) who begins her medical degree in a prestigious university in Germany. Things are pretty normal (I mean whatever is considered normal nowadays for teenagers) for her. However, as time passes, it becomes apparent that she has some hidden motives which involves biotechnology and Professor Lorenz (Jessica Schwarz). That obviously doesn’t sit well with anyone and chaos and destruction and action ensues.
I think the reason why I am excited for Biohackers is the same reason why I am excited for most sci-fi thrillers coming out nowadays: They seem like they aren’t predicting a far-fetched reality, but the near future. I am pretty sure that some of the scientific that the trailer teases are steeped in real science. And as for the rest, I think they can happen any time in the next few years or even months.
Biohackers will stream on Netflix from August 20.
