‘Pareeksha’ Teaser: Prakash Jha Takes A Dig On Our Education System With Adil Hussain In The Lead
Bollywood director Prakash Jha is a notable filmmaker and there are no two ways about that. Known for his keen eye and directorial acumen in films like ‘Rajneeti’, Jha is one of those who have always championed causes and the cinema that is born out of it. In fact, he is back with another commentary and this time, it’s about education system, the divide between rich and the poor and everything in between. And the best part is he has critically-acclaimed actor Adil Hussain doing the talking for him. The actor plays the part of a humble rickshaw-puller who has big and extra-ordinary dreams for his son Bulbul but there are a lot of things weighing him down. The film promises to highlight the stark difference between merit and money and how it can clip wings of those dreams.
Speaking about the film, Adil had said in a statement, “Pareeksha is a very important film of our time, which tells a story of a Brilliant Boy being deprived of his right to education due to his poverty stricken family. The far-reaching consequences of such a situation is disastrous!. Pareeksha is such a story, which will stir your heart. And make feel better, that you witnessed something you thought not possible!” While that is that, we hope that the end result is not replete with poverty porn to drive the point of our faulty socio-economic system across.
Jha himself has opened up about the reason and the real story behind the making of the film. Reportedly, the film is inspired by the real events and people. And especially, IPS officer and educationist Shri Abhayanand who while serving as the Police Chief in Bihar’s Naxal infested areas aided bright students from villages. He assembled them and coached them for IIT-JEE. “Their success had a great impact in the crime infested badlands of Bihar and made a difference, he added.”
The film releases on Zee5 on August 6.
