‘Truth Seekers’ Teaser: Part-Time Paranormal Investigators Hunt for Supernatural In This Horror- Comedy
As a part of the San Diego Comic-Con@Home, Amazon Prime has unveiled the teaser of its latest supernatural comedy drama series, Truth Seekers featuring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. If you haven’t seen it yet, the official synopsis reads, “a group of part-time paranormal investigators team up to uncover a deadly conspiracy. However, as they stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers and abandoned hospitals with their array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos, their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, more terrifying and even deadly, as they begin to uncover a conspiracy that could bring about Armageddon for the entire human race.” And the promo gives you them feels!
You can see the bunch, geared with their gadgets, exploring the dark and unknown but it is soon known to the viewers that they’re about to learn a lot more than they bargained for. The music is heightened and the jump scares are frequent and nothing good can come out of that! Pegg and Frost have collaborated again and have co-written the sci-fi show with James Serafinowicz, Nat Saunders. Reportedly, the eight-part series will not just be funny for the sake of it and will also take the horror aspect seriously and spoof it out. In fact, in the Comic-Con 2020 panel discussion, the four creators revealed what’s in store. “You have to not make fun of the horror. It’s tempting with genre fair to parody that…but I think the key for horror-comedy is to take the horror seriously,” said Pegg. So, you know it won’t be ‘goofy!’ We have the Scary Movie franchise for that anyway.
Apart from the duo, the series also stars Samson Kayo, Malcolm McDowell, Emma D’Arcy, and Susan Wokoma. It is executive produced by Jim Field Smith, Miles Ketley, James Serafinowicz, Nat Saunders, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Truth Seekers will stream on Amazon Prime later this year. The other Comic-Con@Home panels include sneak peek into The Boys Season 2, The Mutants, Upload and Utopia.
