Vivo To Launch X50, X50 Pro In India Today Alongside Its First Pair Of TWS Earbuds

Vivo will launch two new premium smartphones in India today – the Vivo X50 and X50 Pro along with its first-ever TWS offering – the Vivo TWS Neo earbuds. The two smartphones and Vivo X50 Pro+ already debuted in China last month but India will only be getting the Vivo X50 and the Vivo X50 Pro models.

Being a brand that focuses a bulk of its resources on the camera experience, both these new models boast of quad camera setups with some unique features. The phones are powered by octa-core processors and pack respectable specifications to be deemed as the company’s new flagship offering.

Vivo X50, Vivo X50 Pro: Specifications and Key Features

As far as specifications go, the Vivo X50 features a 6.56-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,376 pixels) AMOLED display with 92.8% screen-to-body ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, and HDR. It is powered by the Snapdragon 765G SoC with up to 8GB of RAM.

In terms of optics, the Vivo X50 has a quad rear camera setup that includes a 48MP primary camera, a 13MP telephoto camera, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 5MP macro lens. For selfies, the Vivo X50 has a 32MP shooter, housed inside a hole-punch cutout.

The cameras is where the Pro variant sets itself apart. There is a quad rear camera setup that includes a 48MP main camera with f/1.6 aperture (Sony IMX598 custom sensor), a 13MP telephoto lens with f/2.46 aperture, an 8MP periscope telephoto shooter with f/3.4 aperture, and an 8MP macro camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The Vivo X50 Pro’s pièce de résistance is its gimbal system that reduces camera shaking during videos. An icon in the camera UI shows the gimbal’s movement to let users know when the frame is stable. It also uses software tweaks such as motion-deblur algorithm, continuous focus tracking, and customised sensors to help with video clarity.

For storage, you get up to 256GB on both model. The Vivo X50 comes with 4,200mAh battery with 33W fast charging support whereas the Pro variant has a slightly larger 4,315mAh battery.

Connectivity options include 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth v5.1, and a USB Type-C port for charging. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor as well.

The Vivo X50 was launched in China at CNY 3,498 (approximately INR 37,100) in China for the 8GB + 128GB storage option and at CNY 3,898 (approximately INR 41,300) for the 8GB + 256GB option. It comes in Black Mirror, Liquid Oxygen, and Shallow colour options.

On the other hand, the Vivo X50 Pro was launched at CNY 4,298 (approximately INR 45,600) for the 8GB + 128GB storage option and at CNY 4,698 (approximately INR 49,800) for the 8GB + 256GB storage option. The phone was launched in China in two colorways – Black Mirror and Liquid Oxygen colour option.

Vivo TWS Neo: What we know so far

Most high-end TWS earphones come with 14.2mm dynamic drivers and the Vivo TWS Neo is no different. The moving drivers are expected to make the best use of Vivo’s in-house DeepX Stereo Sound effects, an audio enhancement feature which is presently available in select Vivo phones.

Apart from Bluetooth 5.2 support, Vivo TWS Neo also has several useful attributes, including Google Assistant compatibility and a “Find My TWS Neo” device locator feature. In terms of battery life, the earphones can operate up to 4.5 hours (with AAC encoding and 50 percent volume) and up to 2.9 hours (with apt Adaptive encoding and 50 percent volume). When used with the charging case, the battery is expected to last a little over 22 hours.
