Xiaomi held a global event last evening where it introduced a number of new products, including new entry-level smartphones, but also a variety of smart products, accessories, and more.

Perhaps the two most anticipated products of the lot are the Mi Smart Band 5, the company’s latest fitness tracker and Xiaomi’s FireTV Stick inspired streaming device called the Mi TV Stick. We will be running through the specifications and features of all the products launched at the event but lets begin with the Mi Smart Band 5 and the Mi TV Stick.

Mi Smart Band 5

The Mi Smart Band 5 or simply, the Mi Band 5 now comes with five new exercise modes which include cycling, elliptical, rowing machine, and jump rope – for a total of 11, a more accurate heart rate sensor, and more.

The AMOLED color display is 20% larger than the predecessor at 1.1 inches, and there are 65 display styles to choose from. There are also six band colors if you want a little more personality, although we’ll have to wait and see how many of those color options make it to Indian shores.

Despite the larger display, the Smart Band 5 still promises 14 days of battery life, and Xiaomi also improved the charging mechanism, so you no longer need to remove the tracker from the wrist band to charge it.

The Mi Smart Band 5 costs €39.99 (approximately INR 3,400), but there’ll be an early bird pricing of €34.99 (approximately INR 3,000) on the company’s website. You’ll need to check your local Xiaomi website to find when pre-orders start and how long early bird pricing lasts.

Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic

Xiaomi also unveiled the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic, which were previously teased. They feature 14.2mm dynamic drivers (same as those on the Mi TWS 2) but they only come with AAC codec and not the LDHC Hi-Res audio codec.

There’s also a dual-microphone setup to cancel out background noise, and automatic play and pause with in-ear detection. The buds also feature touch controls, and battery life is five hours for the buds alone, and 20 hours when paired with the charging case.

The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic will cost €39.99 (approximately INR 3,400), but early bird pricing will be just €29.99 (approximately INR 2,600).

Mi TV Stick

In the home entertainment segment, Xiaomi introduced the new Mi TV Stick, with Android TV and support for Dolby and DTS surround sound support.

The dongle-like device measures 92.4 x 30.2 x 15.2 mm and weighs 28.5 g. The Mi TV Stick only comes in black and has a two-toned finish. The device is powered by a quad-core CPU, and it has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It also has built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant, which you can summon with the included Bluetooth remote.

As expected, the Mi TV Stick is a 1080p streamer, although there are rumours that a 4K version is on the way. The Mi TV Stick has not replaced the Mi Box S for the time being, though.

Mi Curved Gaming Monitor 34″

As you can glean from the name, it’s a 34-inch monitor for gaming, and it actually has a few compelling features. It’s a 21:9 display with a WQHD resolution (3440×1440), a 144Hz refresh rate, and FreeSync Premium support. Xiaomi says the display covers 121% of the sRGB color space, it has 300 nits of brightness, and a 1500R curvature.

The Mi Electric Scooter 1S has a range of 30 km and a maximum speed of 25 km/h. The scooter also weighs 12.5 kg and has a maximum power output of 500 W. By contrast, the Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 has a range of 45 km, along with a maximum power output of 600 W and a weight of 14.2 kg.

Xiaomi has also announced that it will release a special edition of the Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 in partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. It is unclear what is special about the Mercedes edition, but Xiaomi is yet to confirm a release date.
